<description>Hi Goutam this was a very interesting article- i just have a few questions
what is the Bangla word for \'empowerment\'
as i understand is it \'khamata\' which to me translates to \'limits\'. the word \'empowerment\' conjures up thoughts of power and fighting for you rights and having the freedom to make choices- the Bangla equivalent doesn\'t do that for me. So when people talk to women in Bangladesh about empowerment what message comes across?
as i mentioned earlier this is a very interesting article but it unsettles me that you repeat the phrase \'backward society\' a number of times surely if you are calling your own society \'backwards\' then others will find it easy to label our country as \'backwards\'
Peoples values should not be classed as backwards whether you or I agree with those values or not.we can always open peoples minds to looking at things in a different light and provide them with information and empower them to make different choices in light of the information we give them but we have no right to judge their customs and beliefs.
What does \'a modern outlook mean\'? modern in terms of adopting western ideologies and culture or technical advancement. you can not blame religion for the inequalities that women suffer rather you should blame mankind/womankind we have created this inequality rather than it has been done by some divine intervention.

I hope you don\'t mind me replying like this- and do not regard it as negatively criticizing your work but rather me looking for more answers. Besides ask Asad i do have a tendency to rant and rave once in a while ;).</description>
